I used to work at Benson's when I was a kid - I remember riding my bike everyday to do the parade - we worked everyday for about an hour we all received $1.50 and got 2 coupons for food items each and got to play in the park the rest of the afternoon - those made my summers!!!

It is nice to know others will at least have a place to make family memories!

I rode my bike today through all the trails and visited all the buildings while I was also Geocaching! Http://www.geocahing.com and this brought back so many great memories from my childhood. Nice to see it again.

My Dad used to talk about working at Benson's when he was a teenager. He was from New York, but would go there for the summers. That is all I know. He was born in 1919, so I'm assuming this was around the mid-1930's to perhaps the early 1940s. Are there any work-related documents or stories from this time period? Or, is there anyone I could contact?

I would love to find a picture or story involving him.

Our family went to Bensons Animal Farm in the late thirties and I had a ride on Betsy.There were two benches on her sides held by leather straps and she knelt to let children to get on and off after she gave them a ride.I was thrilled and never forgot that I rode on an elephant.

about bensons animal park. I dont remember if they had there own paper or there was a Hudson news paper.

The dog park at Benson Park will be opened when the enough money is raised to pay off the fencing that was installed.

From the Hudson Dog Park at Benson Park:
Just wanted to clarify the Donation Amounts and Fence Payment information since the Donation Can on the website isn’t currently reflecting the amount money we have received and paid!

The total fence cost is $19,800. So far we have paid $9000 and currently owe $10,800.

We received almost $1700 from the DOG Sled Event on February 26th and with some additional online donations we are planning on making a $2000 payment to Gate City Fence in March so that we will owe $8,800. Paying off the remaining fence balance is one of the main steps in getting those gates open!

Sorry if this caused any confusion, we’re working on getting the online amount to be more accurate, this should be resolved over this weekend.
